Interdependence

Heard this driving in.. how very true.... "Self sufficiency is the road to poverty" . If we try to do everything ourselves how little can we get done. Instead we do things together in teams and groups where each one contributes his part and are "interdependent" ( not dependent!!! ) then collectively we do bigger and better things. Add to this technology and doesn't that multiply our efficiency and output. Add to this our cultural diversity and each ones uniqueness blesses this even more. An economics student would recognize this and its called "comparative advantage". Stephen Covey calls its interdependence. Overall a very good thing.....

On Learning

"....... a campaign for a child's right to good learning, which is "real, honest and wholesome." Textbooks are the equivalent of processed food -- they are processed learning. The learning's all been done for you. As Dan Meyer says, you just have to know how to decode the text and you get the answers easily. If you don't mind this tedious task, you'll do well. After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day. "I am ashamed of myself because this crack causes water to leak all the way back to your house." The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I planted flower seeds on your side of the pa...

My first one...

Yay!!! been thinking finally got it done... and why this blog... Must confess first that I love to read. And as part of these readings come across many noteworthy ideas and thoughts that remained etched in memory or have internalized. However there are times that have wanted to look these up to share that cannot find any references to these. So what better way than blog about them. So this is indeed my "personal diary" of sorts.. though nothing too personal :-). Even if one more person benefits and enjoys these aha!! moments like I do then mission accomplished... so njoy!!
